CV ATS Builder Guide
The Keywords Hiring Robots Search For In Your Resume
ATS software does not understand meaning — it looks for matching words. If a job description asks for 'Agile project management' and you never write that phrase, you get ranked at the bottom even if you are a seasoned project lead. This library gives you the right terms for every field.
How To Pick The Right Keywords
Always start from the job description itself. Copy the posting, extract the repeated nouns, skills and tools, then weave them naturally into your job title, skills, summary and experience bullets. Never stuff them into a single line — modern ATS platforms detect stuffing and lower your ranking.
- Hard skills: Python, Excel, SQL, AutoCAD, Salesforce, SAP
- Leadership skills: team management, leadership, negotiation, problem-solving
- Certifications: PMP, CPA, CFA, SHRM, ITIL, AWS
- Quantified terms: revenue growth, cost reduction, efficiency gains
Keyword Mistakes That Cost You The Job
Acronyms alone are not enough — write both the full skill and its abbreviation, e.g. 'Project Management (PMP)'. Avoid vague filler like 'hard worker' because it carries no search value. And mirror the exact term in the posting: if they say 'client management', do not write 'dealing with clients'.
Keywords By Region
Every market has its own vocabulary. In the Gulf, recruiters search for 'Taqat', 'Jadarat' and 'Vision 2030'; in Europe for 'Europass' and 'CEFR'; in the US for 'Workday', 'EEO' and 'federal resume'. Tune your keywords to the country you are targeting to noticeably boost your odds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does keyword stuffing help?
No, it hurts you. Modern ATS platforms detect unnatural repetition and lower your ranking — and may reject you outright.
How many keywords do I need?
There is no fixed number, but aim to cover 70–80% of the core terms in the job description naturally.
Do Arabic keywords differ from English?
Yes. We recommend two versions: Arabic for the local market and English for multinationals and international roles.
