Nursing Resume: Licence First, Then Clinical Experience
In healthcare the recruiter checks three things first: is the licence valid, which unit did you work in, and which clinical certificates do you hold. Put them at the top and you save them the search.
Licence and certificates at the top
Put your professional licence, its number and expiry in a clear line right after the summary. For work in Saudi Arabia, state your classification with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties if you have one, followed by life-support certificates.
- Professional licence or classification and expiry date
- BLS, ACLS and other current clinical certificates
- Specialty credentials such as ICU or emergency
- Languages you speak with patients
Clinical experience in numbers
For each job state the unit type and the average number of beds or patients you handled, then your achievements: reduced medication errors, completed training, adherence to infection-control protocols, or mentoring new colleagues.
- Illustrative example: cared for 6 to 8 patients on a medical ward with high protocol adherence
- Equipment and patient-monitoring systems you are trained on
- Contribution to your facility's accreditation and quality requirements
- Mentoring students and new nurses
A format both software and people can read
Hospitals and job platforms use screening software, so keep the file text-based with a single column and standard headings. Avoid icons and skill-rating bars.
- One to two pages
- Headings such as Clinical Experience, Education, Certifications
- Consistent date format
- English for international facilities and Arabic for local bodies when needed
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I print my full licence number?
The licence type and expiry are enough. Some employers ask for the number in the application form rather than on a widely shared resume.
How do I write a new-graduate nursing resume?
Focus on the clinical placements you completed, the units you rotated through, and your life-support certificates, then skills.
Should I add a photo?
A version without a photo is better for online applications. Add one only if the employer requests it.
